Joseph E. Woodhead was my children's fourth great grandfather. Harriet Barnes was Joseph's second wife. Joseph's first wife (and my children's fourth great grandmother) was Hannah Secker. Joseph E. Woodhead and Hannah Secker were the immigrant ancestors from Wakefield, England. Hannah Secker died in 1849. Joseph E. Woodhead and Harriet Barnes were married on 3 Aug 1850, so they were newlyweds when this census was taken. Strictly speaking, Harriet Barnes should not have been listed in this family because families were supposed to have been listed as they were on the official census date of 1 Jun 1850, irrespective of when the census taker actually knocked on the door. Joseph and Harriet did have one child, but he was not born until 1852. |
