FROM THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR TO THE PRESENT TIME
GREAT-GRANDMOTHER RACHEL McCART PETERS, HER ANCESTORS AND DESCENDENTS

• Robert McCart Sr. Born in Virginia in 1776, died in 1829
• Hannah Peters.  Born in Virginia in 1783, no date found of her death and no information as to when she was married.
• Robert and Hannah McCart came to Tennessee from Clarke County, Kentucky before 1805.  Their daughter Rachel was born in Roane County in 1805.  She was born on Emory River, that area being in Roane County at that time since Morgan County was not established until 1817.
• Robert McCart Sr. served under Andrew Jackson at New Orleans in the War of 1812.  There is no record of his enlistment but he was discharged at Kingston in 1815.
• Robert and Hannah McCart's first child, Robert McCart Jr. was born in Kentucky in 1798, and Robert Sr. shows up on the Census Rolls in Clarke County, Kentucky in 1800.
• Robert McCart Sr. and Hannah Peters McCart had the following children, all born on Emory River except two.
  • Robert McCart Jr, born in Kentucky in 1798.
  • Elizabeth McCart, born in Kentucky in 1800.
  • Rachel McCart, born on Emory River in 1805, married in 1822 and died in 1899.
  • Henry McCart born on Emory River.
  • Preston McCart, born in Morgan County in 1823.
  • James H. McCart, born in Morgan County in 1829, died in 1900.
  • Polly McCart, born in Morgan County.
  • Martha McCart, born in Morgan County.
  • Lucinda McCart born in Morgan County.  (She married Benjamin S. Jack, who joined the Union Army in the Civil war.  He was captured by the Confederates and died in Andersonville Prison in 1864.  They had four sons, one being Dan Jack, who married Kisar Davidson, who was a grand-daughter of James and Rachel Peters)
  • Ruby McCart, born in Morgan County.
  • Welcome R. McCart, born in Morgan County.
• Rachel McCart, married James Peters in 1822 and they moved to land near what is now Burrville where they built a log cabin.  Their nearest neighbor lived at what is now Nydeck, some eight or ten miles away.  Here they reared 13 children as follows:

• Elizabeth Peters, born 1823, married a Hutchison and settled in Kentucky near Kings Mountain.
• Rebecca Peters, born 1825, married Menan Davidson.  Tom Bowmer's wife, Paraelds; Rufe Jones' wife; the Mother of Dave, Charley, Henry and Cull Summers, all were the daughters of Menan and Rebecca Peters Davidson.
• Releford Peters, born 1826 and died in 1899.
• Hannah Peters, born 1828, married James Davidson.  James Davidson who married Sarah Owens was a son.  Kisar Davidson, a daughter) married Dan Jack.  The mother of Dan Jack was Lucinda McCart, a sister to Hannah McCart Peters, his wife's grandmother.
• Robert Ichabod Peters, born 1829, and died at an early age.
• Martha Peters, born 1833, was blind and never married.
• Tobias Peters, born 1835, married Mary Jane Wright, the daughter of Rev. A. B. Wright. Rev. A. B. Wright's wife was Cynthia Frogge.  Tobias Peters and Mary Jane Peters had the following children.
  • Worcester 0. Peters who married Linnie Lewallen.
  • Absolam Barton Peters who married Jessie L. Smith.  (son John W. Peters)
  • James Peters who died at the age of 18.
  • Robert Peters who married Bessie Allison.
  • William A. Peters who married Winnie ________of Louisiana.
  • Timothy V. Peters who married Alena Talley of Louisiana.
  • Edmond C. Peters who married Ethel Polk.
  • Annis Peters who married John McGuffey.
  • Rhua Peters who married Dillard Gunter.
  • Debroah Peters who married Steve Trascher and a second marriage to Charles Eikel.
• Carolyn Peters, born June 15, 1837.  Married Will Cromwell.  The Cromwells from Burrville sprang from this family.  Carolyn Peters Cromwell was Nettie Griffith's grandmother.
• Henry F. Peters, born Sept. 13, 1839.  Married Frankie Young.  They had four boys and four girls.  Rev. John B. Peters married Lizzie Phelps.  Andrew Peters also married a Phelps, Lizzie's sister.  Mary Peters married Sam Galloway. Celeste Peters married John Rosenbaum.  Rachal Peters married George Lyons.  James Peters died early in his youth.

• Releford Peters died soon after the Spanish American War.  Minnie Peters married a Langdoc and lived in Indiana.
• Talitha Peters, born Nov. 11, 1841.  Married Ben Greer a Civil War Veteran.  James S. Greer of Burrville was a son.  A daughter married Jack Storie of Fentress County.
• Adam Clark Peters, born Nov. 6, 1843.  Married a Jett and raised a family of three boys and one girl.  Clark Peters Jr. was killed in World War 1.  Oscar Peters migrated to Oklahoma.  Virgil Peters married Ann Sherman and migrated to Oklahoma.  Bertie Peters married Gilbert Young.
   
  Upon the death of his first wife Clark Peters married Nina Wright, and they reared a family of three boys and three girls.  Tim, Delta, Vincent, Vonnie, Estelle, and Alphonse all of who migrated to the West.
   
  Upon the death of his second wife Clark married Clara Cloyd of Johnson City, Tennessee.  They had one son, Cloyd.
  
• Emilie Ann Peters, born Sept. 9, 1846 married an O'Connor and migrated to Oklahoma.
  
• Timothy C. Peters, born 1831, married a Frogge and moved to Kentucky where he became a prominent Methodist Minister.
