12th Eastern Subdivision, Sevier County, Tennessee, 24 Oct 1850; p.455a, HN 971,
FN 971; Bryan A. W. 30 m w miller 150 TN; Margaret 28 f w TN He appeared in
the census in 1891 in Sevier County, Tennessee. Bryan R. A., 69,
Dist. 8. There is a certain amount of guesswork in associating this 1891 male
voters enumeration with Ahaz W. Bryan. There were no other Bryans in Dist. 8
of Sevier County who were the correct age, and Ahaz himself was not enumerated
unless this is his entry. We need to guess that the initials were inverted so
that it should have been A. R. Bryan rather than R. A. Bryan. We also need to
guess that Ahaz's middle name was a "Wr" name such as "Wright",
which was often misspelled as something such as "Rite". (RGB)
He died on 27 Mar 1893.
He was buried after 27 Mar 1893 in Bryan-Drinnen-Cate Cemetery, Sevier County,
Tennessee.

Bryan, Ahas W. Union Cavalry 3rd Regiment, Tennessee Cavalry Ahaz W. Bryan
and Margaret Callahan were married on 24 Oct 1842 in Dumplin Baptist Church,
Jefferson County, Tennessee.100
The marriage date of about 1850 given by BU seems a little too late if the birth
date of 1844 for Samual Thomas Bryan given by RJP is correct. RJP got her information
from the McCampbell family. Hence, I have changed the marriage date to about
1843. RGB
Subsequently, I found an IGI which gives the marriage date as 24 Oct 1842. RGB
Margaret Callahan1,3,79,98,101
(daughter of Samuel Callahan and Milly Underwood) was born on 22 Jun 1822 in
Jefferson County, Tennessee. She appeared in the census in 1850 in
Sevier County, Tennessee. Margaret 28 TN She died on 25 Oct 1888.
She was buried after 25 Oct 1888 in Bryan-Drinnen-Cate Cemetery, Sevier County,
Tennessee. BU states that it was reported that Sarah was the only
daughter and does not list a son. RJP lists both Sarah and Samuel Thomas. Ahaz
W. Bryan and Margaret Callahan had the following children:
Ahaz
W. Bryan and Elizabeth Smith were married on 17 Jan 1890 in Sevier County, Tennessee.102
Elizabeth Smith99
(daughter of Smith and unknown) was born in 1831 in Georgia.
She was living on 23 Feb 1895 in Thorn Grove, Knox County, Tennessee.
She received a letter from her daughter, addressed to Thorn Grove, Tennessee.
She died in 1916.
She drew the Civil War pension of Ahaz Bryan until her death in 1916. There's
a minor irony because her first husband Squire Joseph Sanders was a Confederate
soldier. She married Ahaz Bryan late in life, and he was a Union soldier.
