He was the first professor in charge of English at what later became Carson College, a forerunner of Carson-Newman College. This family went to Oklahoma. W.S. Bryan lived in Claremont, Okla; Was connected with Okla. Military Academy, and was a prominent educator. He was the oldest living alumnus of Carson-Newman College in the 1930's.
